The Brazilian retail sector is estimated to have achieved revenues of US$ 508 billion in 2017, increasing 6.0% in Reais compared to 2016. The sector represents 27% of the national GDP and employs around 7.8 million people in Brazil. Hyper and supermarkets account for 31% of retail sales and e-commerce has grown at a CAGR of 11% between 2007 and 2017 in revenue and 22% in e-consumers. Mobile share in e-commerce increased to 32% in 2018 but there is still room for growth when compared to the rest of the world, where mobile commerce represents 38% of e-commerce sales.
